I've been making claims that I'd been overweight or obese since I was 11 years old, because that was the last time that I could remember my own weight. When preparing to change schools I was required to put down my height and weight and I remember hopping on the scale and my mom writing down 160lbs. For reference, the ideal weight for 11 year old girl should be around 80-90lbs.
But then today, as I was doing a deep clean of my house, I walked by a picture of me from when I was a kid. I hadn't really given it much thought in a while, but something struck me about it today - how old was I in that picture? I was already a chonky little lass, but I looked even younger than 11.

There a few clues that this picture was pretty old. One, I'm clearly in the most 90's jacket and sweater ever, two, the zip up hoodie design is from Disney World in the late 80's/early 90's, and three... I'm literally sitting in front of the friggin' Capitol in Washington D.C. We went there for Clinton's Inauguration, which was in January of 1993. That makes me 9 years old in this picture.
Nine!
The funny thing is, looking back at old photos I can see that when I was 7 years old I wasn't quite so plump, but still not a "small" child. This has been rather jarring to look back on with fresh eyes. I've been so focused on the here and now with my current struggles that I've not looked back at just how long my weight has been an issue for me. Pretty much my whole life.

Well, at least I'm more clear about my timeline now. Also, shout outs to Gadget from Chip n Dale: Rescue Rangers! She's always been one of my favorite characters and I was happy to get my picture with her back in 1991, and I was just as happy to meet the creator, Tad Stones at Midwest Gaming Classic earlier this year and take home a signed sketch!
That's all I've got to say today - but I hope that you have a wonderful day (whenever you happen to stumble upon reading this!) and thanks for bearing with me as I get my history organized! <3
